- Enter the desired text in the textbox (text may be common name, family, genus, species,
or any combination thereof)
- Click the Search button
If the search is successful, the resulting records will appear in
grid view
and the map will indicate in which counties the specimens for the found records where collected.
The OVPD also allows you to display county species list, either for all specimen records for a
selected county or only those specimen records that meet your search criteria.
To display a complete species list for a county, you may do either of the following:
- If necessary, clear out any searches by clicking the clear button
in the Search pane - In the map pane, click on the county for which
you wish to view the speciment list
OR
- In the map pane, select the county name from the
dropdown list

- Click the Go button

The County list will appear in the
Specimen Details
pane. For a map showing county names, visit the
Reference
section of the help files.
To return a county list for a specific species:
- Execute a basic search
- Select a county using either a map click or the dropdown list
The results of your county query will appear in the
Specimen Details
pane.
Once you have generated a county list, you have the option to print the list.
- In the Specimen Details pane, click the Open
in new window to print link
- After the list opens in a new window, user your browsers
print tools (File-Print) to print the list.
Note:You must disable your popup blocker for this site for the county specimen list to open.
It is also recommended that you use landscape page orientation and/or that you ensure that the
"shrink to page" options are properly set.
