Each record entered in the OVDP contains detailed information about the specimen (e.g. collector; County
of collection; collection date; and habit); annotation information; herbarium information; taxonomic
information (e.g. family; scientific binomial; and common name); and life history information (e.g.
country of origin; category; life cycle; and growth habitat).
In order to access this information, you must first select a record in the
grid view.
The details of the selected record will be displayed in the
details pane.
The details pane is populated with the information about the selected specimen. The full currently
accepted scientific name and authority is listed, followed by seven tabs of detailed information about
the specimen.
Each tab in the details pane contains information related to the selected specimen.
- The Specimens tab lists the accession number; the collector(s) of the specimen; the county in which
the collection occurred; the date of the collection; the collection number; the habitat in which the specimen
was found; whether the specimen is annotated; and any comments related to the record
- The annotation tab lists the date of the annotation; the annotated name; the name of the annotator; and any
comments related to the annotation
- The Herbaria tab lists detailed information about the herbarium in which the selected specimen resides. It
also provides contact information for the herbarium
- The Taxonomy tab lists the family; scientific binomial; common name; and synonyms of the selected
specimen
- The Life History tab lists the origin (e.g. native or introduced) of the species; the category (i.e.
monocot or dicot); duration (i.e. annual, biennial, or perennial); and growth habit (e.g. forb, shrub, or
tree
- The Conservation tab lists the global and state conservation rank
- The links tab provides links to the following external pages for the selected species: Catalog
of Woody Plants of Oklahoma, the USDA Plant Database, the NatureServe, and, and Wikipedia pages for the
selected species
Note: Not all selected species will have external pages at these sites.
