Community Support
Coordinate Solutions is dedicated to supporting the larger GIS community to which it belongs. Since its
founding, Coordinate Solutions has strived to aid the geospatial community through knowledge sharing,
conference sponsorship, and code and software distribution. Recent examples include sponsorship of the
OSGeo Code Sprint and the distribution of open-source tools. (For samples, also see our
Sample Applications page.)
OSGeo Code Sprint
The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) is a nonprofit organization designed to promote and support the
collaborative development of geospatial data and technologies. OSGeo hosts an annual "code sprint," at which
individuals working in open source geospatial projects gather to tackle issues related to open source coding and
documentation.
Coordinate Solutions proudly sponsored the Toronto Code Sprint 2009, held from March 7-10, 2009 in Toronto, Ontario and the
New York Code Sprint 2010,
held from February 20-23, 2010 in New York, New York.
GIS Raster Tile Normalizer for GeoServer
The Raster Normalizer is an application designed to reproject large (typically county-wide) rasters
into a series of 3.25 minute square GeoTiffs in Geographic Coordinate System WGS 1984 (EPSG: 4326).
Coordinate Solutions developed the Raster Normalizer in order to better facilitate the use of large
raster datasets in Geoserver.
However, the Raster Normalizer can be used to tile, reproject, and mosaic large raster images to
create seamless rasters without the black collars all to often present in such datasets.
The Raster Dataset was built using VB.NET and GDAL. For more information and application download, visit
the Raster Normalizer CodePlex site.
